Built by the Jesuits in 1594, the Basilica De Bom Jesus (Good Jesus), is a world heritage site that contains the remians  of St. Francis Xavier. Francis Xavier was sent to Goa in 1542 by Dom Joao III, the Portuguese king, When he died on a voyage off the coast of China, he was burried on an island. Three months after they dug up the remains, his body showed no signs of decay. His body was still found to be pristine after a year, when he was enshrined in the Basilica. Every 10 years, an exposition of St. Franicis Xaviers' relics takes place for a fortnight in the month of December. The next one is planned in 2014.
